My interest lies in the natural world as an abstract space. As a child I would get lost in the textures and colours of nature, looking more and more deeply into the heart of a flower or the patterns in the bark of a tree. Cracks on the surface of stone or concrete became entry points for my imagination – wondering what it would look like inside if I could somehow become small enough to enter. As such, the greatest compliment received for my work is the need for the viewer to want to touch it, to move closer, reach out and then retreat again to a distance to observe the work in its entirety.
I strive for that dance of observation and contact.
