DANA COWIE
Dana Cowie’s art might be described as Contemporary Impressionism. The paintings are loose, painterly and atmospheric. She moves freely from various subject matter and is inspired by daily life. Ideas come as she walks her neighbourhood. Dana keeps notebooks full of sketches and ideas and sources the images with her photographer husband, Harry Gils, and later paints the images in her studio. Cowie pays special attention to spatial relationships, tone and colour. There is a sense of life and movement in her work.
